A solving strategy that holds up under pressure

1

Scan first

Sweep the rows and columns quickly. When the rule is obvious, the answer often jumps out — no deep analysis needed.

2

One characteristic at a time

No luck? Examine a single feature — shape, colour, quantity, position, alignment — and check whether a pattern governs it across rows, columns, or both.

3

Test the rule against the answers

Apply your rule to the six options and eliminate. If more than one option fits, your rule is incomplete — there's probably a second rule in play.

4

Don't get stuck

Most timed assessments give you a minute or less per question. If one won't crack, move on and come back at the end with the time you saved.

What is the Talent Q Elements test?

Talent Q Elements, developed by Talent Q and now part of Korn Ferry's assessment suite, evaluates numerical, verbal, and logical reasoning through an adaptive format — each question's difficulty adjusts based on whether you answered the previous one correctly, so the test calibrates itself to find your true ability level rather than working through a fixed question set. The logical reasoning section uses matrix-style puzzles similar to Matrigma and Raven's, governed by hidden rules across rows and columns. Because the test is adaptive, there's no fixed number of questions or fixed time per question — staying calm and accurate matters more than racing the clock.
