Talent Q Elements — now part of Korn Ferry's assessment suite — works differently from a fixed-length test like Matrigma's classic 35-question format. It's adaptive: get a question right, and the next one gets harder; get one wrong, and it eases up. That single design choice changes how you should think about preparation.

Why adaptive testing feels different. Because the test is constantly recalibrating to find your ceiling, you'll often feel like the questions are getting harder throughout — that's not a sign you're doing badly, it's the test successfully locating your ability level. There's also no fixed number of questions or fixed time per item to anchor your pacing against, which can feel disorienting if you're used to knowing exactly how many questions are left.

Talent Q Elements' logical reasoning section uses the same matrix-style format as Matrigma and Raven's — a grid of figures governed by hidden rules, with the missing cell to be completed from several options. Numerical and verbal reasoning sections run alongside it, but the visual pattern-recognition core is identical to what you'd train for any matrix-reasoning test.

How to prepare given the adaptive format.
